All of the matches in Division 2 were completed yesterday when Jon Ayling and Rob Bolter played out both of their league matches in Cambridge.
In the first match Jon edged ahead, only to lose an 8-cube to Rob in a tight race. A doubled gammon made it 9 points apiece and after an exciting sequence of doubles Jon rolled 3-3 at the last minute to take the match. The second match started off more quietly, with a series of drops keeping the score neck and neck. At 7-8 the cube was redoubled, leaving Jon attempting to play the coup-classique for the match! Rob brought it home, taking the second match.
Jon take the runners up place in the Division and unfortunately, Rob takes the drop into Division 3 next season.
Jon Ayling 11 – 9 Rob Bolter
Rob Bolter 11 – 7 Jon Ayling
