In autumn 2022 we assembled two teams of three to have a go at the WBIF World Clubs Championship online – and nearly six months later, the trio of Julia, Roger and Phil finally reached the dizzying heights of the tenth round. Sadly the campaign ended at that point, effectively the quarter-finals, with a defeat against MPEEE from Greece, but that left us with a final standing of sixth from sixty-four teams from around the world, and the highest placed British team. The highlight was a win over RS2.0 (Denmark), a team entirely made up of grandmasters, and every match along the way was against top-quality opposition – no easy rounds at all!
Our second team, Cambridge 2 consisted of Steve, John and Peter who struggled to gain any momentum and finished 56th overall.
