Caroline Knapp and Peter Booth played both of their league matches at the Golden Hind last night. The first started a very cagey affair each picking up a point as the cube was declined on several occasions. But at 5-4 to Peter there was some cube action that made the game worth 4 points and Peter took a 9-4 lead. It wasn’t long before Caroline had brought it back to 9-9 and then took a 9-10 lead. Peter won the Crawford game and at 10-10 managed to take the next winning the match 11-10.

Exhausted, they went into the second match which was altogether different. Caroline took an early lead and Peter was always playing catch up. But at 7-5 in Caroline’s favour Peter took the next game on a 4 cube and lead the match for the first time at 7-9. Caroline fought on and pulled back to level things at 9-9 and in the final game Peter accepted her double and she went on to win the game and the match 11-9.

These matches sealed Peter’s fate as he will be playing Div. 4 next season. Steve Holman can’t be caught at the top of the Division and so he wins promotion into Div. 2 next season.
