Rob Bolter began his Division 3 campaign with two wins tonight over Peter Booth. Peter started well in the first match assuming a 5-0 lead which became 9-5 in his favour. With only 2 points needed to secure the win, Peter thought he was home and dry, but lost the next game with the cube on 4 taking it to 9 a-piece. Rob took a commanding position early in the next game and Peter declined the double giving Bolter the lead for the first time in the match. Now into the Crawford game, Rob managed to build a strong position, too strong for Peter and he took the match winning game.
The second match was a closer affair with the lead swapping between the players, now visibly fatigued. At 6-5 in Rob’s favour, there was some serious cube action going on as both players felt the game moving in their favour. With the cube on 8, it was Rob who managed to get his counters round into his home board leaving Peter in the dust.
